I’m hooked on First Aid Kits album Stay Gold, and whilst listening this morning to the title track Stay Gold, mused on whether or not it and the album were influenced by S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. About the greasers and the socs and fitting in as a teenager in a town in Oklahoma. One of the main characters Ponyboy loves films/music and books. I love both the book and the film from the 80’s (hard not to like with an all star cast). Here’s an clip of Ponyboy reciting a beautiful poem. It’s beautifully shot. Every new year I write a plan of stuff I’d like to do and achieve during the year, and the first thing I usually do is write ‘Stay Gold’ at the top. It’s weird how things connects sometimes, or seem to have a thread running through.
